Di-Ammonium Phosphate

Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP 18-46-0) is the most widely used phosphate fertiliser, supplying nitrogen and phosphorus at sowing.

DAP is made by reacting phosphoric acid with ammonia and supplies 18% nitrogen and 46% phosphate (P₂O₅). Phosphorus drives root development and early growth, so DAP is usually applied at or before sowing as a basal fertiliser.

Its high nutrient content keeps freight cost per unit of phosphate low, and its hard, uniform granules store well and blend easily. Water-soluble phosphate content is a key quality measure because it determines how much phosphorus is immediately available to the crop.

Di-Ammonium Phosphate — frequently asked

18-46-0 means di-ammonium phosphate contains 18% nitrogen, 46% phosphate as P₂O₅ and 0% potash. It is the standard grade used worldwide.

DAP is usually applied as a basal fertiliser at or just before sowing, close to the seed row, because young roots need phosphorus early and phosphate moves very little in soil.

Fertilizer availability depends on origin and on export rules that can change by season. Origin, availability and lead time are confirmed with every quotation.
