Acrylic Emulsions
Acrylic Emulsions are water-based polymer binders for paints, primers, textured coatings, waterproofing and adhesives, supplied as pure acrylic and styrene acrylic grades.
An acrylic emulsion is a milky dispersion of fine polymer particles in water. As the water evaporates, the particles pack together and fuse into a continuous film that binds pigment and filler — the basis of almost every modern water-based paint.
Pure acrylics resist UV, chalking and yellowing best, so they are used for exterior paints and elastomeric roof coatings. Styrene acrylics cost less and offer good water and alkali resistance, so they suit interior paints, primers and cement-based systems. Key choices are solids content, glass transition temperature (Tg) and minimum film-forming temperature (MFFT).

Typical applications
- Exterior and interior emulsion paints
- Primers and sealers
- Textured and elastomeric coatings
- Waterproofing and cement modification
- Paper, textile and non-woven binders
- Water-based adhesives
Packing options
- 50 kg & 200 kg HDPE drums
- 1,000 kg IBCs
- Flexitanks for full containers
Storage & handling
Store between 5 and 35 °C. Emulsions must not freeze — freezing destroys them irreversibly — so winter shipments to cold destinations need frost protection. Shelf life is typically 6–12 months.
Documentation
Certificate of Analysis, MSDS, Certificate of Origin, dangerous goods declaration where applicable, and third-party pre-shipment inspection on request.

Acrylic Emulsions — frequently asked
Pure acrylic emulsions have the best UV resistance, colour retention and exterior durability. Styrene acrylic emulsions are more economical with good water and alkali resistance, making them well suited to interior paints, primers and cementitious coatings.
MFFT (minimum film-forming temperature) is the lowest temperature at which an emulsion forms a continuous film. Emulsions with an MFFT above application temperature need a coalescing solvent, while low-MFFT grades allow low-VOC formulations.
Yes, with precautions. Acrylic emulsions are destroyed by freezing, so shipments to cold destinations are planned with insulated containers or routing that avoids sub-zero exposure.
Yes. Chemtrade manufactures and exports Acrylic Emulsions from Surat, Gujarat, India to more than 55 countries, for customers in Paints, Inks & Coatings. Send your grade, quantity and destination port for a quotation within one business day.
Every shipment of Acrylic Emulsions from Chemtrade includes a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis (COA) and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Certificate of Origin, third-party pre-shipment inspection and destination-specific regulatory documentation are arranged on request.
