Solvents

Mineral Turpentine Oil, Xylene and Toluene are hydrocarbon solvents used to thin paints, dissolve resins and formulate adhesives, inks and agrochemicals.

Mineral turpentine oil (MTO, also called white spirit) is a petroleum distillate with moderate evaporation and low odour — the standard thinner for alkyd enamels and decorative solvent-based paints. Xylene (mixed isomers) and toluene are aromatic solvents with much stronger solvency for resins, rubber and binders, and faster evaporation.

Together they cover most solvent needs in coatings: MTO for brushing paints and cleaning, xylene for industrial coatings and agrochemical emulsifiable concentrates, and toluene for adhesives, inks and as a reaction solvent. All are flammable and are shipped as dangerous goods.
